Service Information & Biography

Jack joined the Ontario Provincial Police in Toronto on November 21st.,1957, at the age of 21 years. His first posting was to Sault Ste.Marie as a Constable at the Detachment. While there he was a member of the Canadian Forces Reserve and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant.

In 1966, Jack was promoted to Corporal and transferred to Cochrane as a shift Corporal.
In 1970, he was transferred to South Porcupine as the District In-Service-Training Corporal.
In 1973, Jack was promoted to Sergeant and transferred to Espanola as Detachment Commander.

In 1976, Jack was promoted to Staff Sergeant and transferred to Sudbury D.H.Q. as Traffic and Marine Supervisor. He remained in this position until he retired January 1St.,1993.

Jack is married to wife Edera, with six children, two step children and seven grandchildren.
While stationed in Sudbury, Jack attended Laurentian University part time, where he graduated with degrees in Sociology and Law & Justice. He also has a diploma in Police Management from O.P.C and the University of Western Ontario.

The O.P.P. sent Jack on many courses during his career, including the R.C.M.P. Senior N.C.O. course in Ottawa Headquarters. Jack was fortunate to live in 3 O.P.P. Government Residences out of his 4 transfers during his career. The O.P.P. no longer provide houses for their members.

A wonderful career with the O.P.P. well lived.
