Retired Senior Constable Ronald (Ron) Thomas Horton, Badge # 3336, passed away peacefully at the Norfolk General Hospital on February 15, 2026 after a brief illness. He was 81 years old.

Policing Career Highlights

  • Ron joined the Ontario Provincial Police on June 12, 1967, with an initial posting to St. Catharines OPP Detachment . On May 2, 1970, Ron was transferred to the Cayuga OPP Detachment (now Haldimand County OPP). He retired on December 31, 1998, with the rank of Senior Constable. Ron was rehired as a Special Constable shortly after and remained with the Haldimand County OPP doing court security and prisoner transfers. He continued in this capacity until his final retirement on September 6, 2013. Ron was a Life Member of #4 Chapter OPPVA Niagara.

Policing Career Highlights

  • Rick began his career with the Ontario Public Service with the Ministry of Corrections on May 30, 1978. On September 20, 1982, Rick joined the Ontario Provincial Police and was posted to Exeter Detachment. On June 1, 1989, Rick was promoted to Sergeant and transferred to the Mount Forest Communications Unit. On June 17, 1996, Rick transferred to the Mount Forest Detachment. On October 19, 1998, Rick transferred into the Municipal Policing Bureau. On April 2, 2001, Rick transferred to the West Region Community Policing Unit. On April 10, 2006, Rick transferred to the South Bruce Detachment. On June 4, 2007, Rick was promoted to Staff Sergeant and transferred to Grey County Detachment. Staff Sergeant Rick Sinnamon retired from the OPP on May 31, 2012.
  • Rick was an active member of the Ontario Provincial Police Association, serving in many executive roles. In retirement, Rick joined the Mount Forest Chapter of the Ontario Provincial Police Veterans’ Association and was its Secretary when he passed away. Rick was also heavily involved in the Mount Forest community through minor hockey, the Mount Forest Lions’ Club, and was on the Board of Directors of the Louise Marshall Hospital Foundation.

Family & loved ones

  • Rick is survived by his wife Patty (née Grantham) of 44 years; sons Andrew (Bern) and Shawn (Megan) Sinnamon, and daughter Michelle Matheson (Andrew); and his seven grandchildren, whom he loved so dearly: Nathaniel, Theo, and Callum Sinnamon, Hunter and Rowan Sinnamon, and Kiera and Mackenzie Matheson. Rick was the eldest son of Robert (deceased) and Arlene Sinnamon. He will be greatly missed by his brothers Wayne (Nancy), Brock (Linda), and Brad, as well as his sister-in-law Mary Jayne Gosnell(George). Rick will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family members in Northern Ireland, and many dear friends.

  • Lou joined the Ontario Provincial Police on February 5, 1957, with an initial posting to Sudbury DHQ. On March 15, Lou was transferred to the Michipicoten Township Detachment. On January 1, 1958, Lou was transferred to the Sault Ste. Marie DHQ. A month later, Lou was transferred to Elliot Lake Detachment. Lou transferred to Sault Ste. Marie Detachment on June 1, 1958. On July 1, 1964, Lou was transferred to the Montreal River Detachment and returned to Sault Ste. Marie on July 13. Lou was promoted to Corporal on June 1, 1967. A transfer to the Sault Ste. Marie DHQ Traffic Unit followed on January 1, 1973. On May 21, 1973, Lou was promoted to Sergeant and transferred to the Security Branch. Lous was promoted to Detective Sergeant on June 1, 1974. January 16, 1978, saw Lou transferring to the Anti-Rackets Branch. A transfer to the Criminal Investigation Branch followed on May 14, 1979. Lou was promoted to Detective Inspector on May 14, 1980. Lou transferred to the Kingston CIB office on April 1, 1985.
  • Detective Inspector Okmanas retired from the OPP on December 31, 1991, with close to 35 years of public service. Lou was a Life Member of the Ontario Provincial Police Veterans’ Association.

  • Beloved husband of Gayle Okmanas (nee Keatley) for 67 wonderful years. Loving father of Lori Eaton (Todd) and Lynda Grande (Tony). Cherished grandfather of Darryl (Angie), Rebecca (Ryan), Nicholas (Kendrah), Liam (Jessica), and Avery and great-grandfather of Cohen, Wells, Leo, and Atlas. It is with a heavy heart we announce the passing of Life Member retired Chief Superintendent Wilfred Robert (Bob) Patterson #2080 on Sunday, January 18, 2026, peacefully at the Sunnybrook Veterans Centre in Toronto. Bob was 88 and had been retired for over 35 years when he passed away.

Policing Career Highlights

  • Bob was a member of the Aylmer Police Department before joining the Ontario Provincial Police on July 4, 1961. Bob’s first posting was to Woodstock Detachment.
  • On March 1, 1967, Bob transferred into the Chatham DHQ Identification Unit.
  • On June 14, 1971, Bob was promoted to Corporal and transferred to the Intelligence Branch.
  • Bob was promoted to Sergeant in December 1978, Detective Sergeant in December 1979, and Inspector in July 1981.
  • Bob was transferred to the Operational Services Branch on September 1, 1981, and to the Computer Services Branch on February 1, 1983.
  • A promotion to Superintendent followed in February 1984.
  • On April 1, 1986, Bob was promoted to Chief Superintendent and transferred to the Planning & Technology Division. Bob’s last transfer was to the Administrative Services Division on April 1, 1987.
  • Chief Superintendent Patterson retired from OPP the April 30, 1990.

Family & loved ones

  • Bob was predeceased by his beloved wife, Georgina, and his two sons, Ronald and Constable Paul Patterson, who was killed in the line of duty. He will be fondly remembered by his son, Retired Detective Inspector Rich Patterson, his wife Tina, and their son Kai.

Policing Career Highlights

  • Don joined the Ontario Provincial Police in 1965. During his career with the OPP, he served at Strathroy, Port Burwell, Bancroft, Sault Ste. Marie, Spanish and London Detachments. On June 30, 1996, Detective Staff Sergeant Perkins retired from the OPP after 30 years of service. In his retirement, Don joined the London Chapter of the OPP Veterans’ Association and was a Life Member.

Family & loved ones

  • Beloved husband of Susan Hughes and the late Carol Perkins(1999). Dear father of April Perkins(Chris) of Victoria B.C. and step-father of Adam Wallace, Sarah Wallace(Spike) and Dylan Hughes. Also survived by his sisters Madeliene, Pat and Beverly and in-laws Sharon, Norm, Steve, Stu, Shelley and a number of nieces and nephews. Don will be missed dearly by his faithful dog, Annie, who shared in his daily life and companionship. Predeceased by his brothers Eric and Ed. Born in London, Ontario on August 15, 1944, son of the late Alfred and Lenora Perkins.

Policing Career Highlights

  • Bruce began his career with the OPP on January 31, 1956, serving as a Probationary Constable at Barrie DHQ. Over the years, he was posted to Wasaga Beach, Barrie DHQ and Orangeville Detachments. He resigned from the OPP in January 1967 but returned to service in November of the same year, taking a posting at the Dutton Detachment. Bruce later served at the Shabaqua Detachment before retiring in 1986. Bruce was also a member of the OPPVA 90+ Club.

Family & loved ones

  • Bruce is lovingly remembered by his wife, Laverne Mullen, and was a devoted father to his children: Helen (Rick) Stark, Tom (Deb) Mullen, Barb (George) Dawson, Marilyn (Tim) Howse, and Bruce Mullen Jr. He was a cherished grandfather to Lydia, Brad, Alicia, Greg, Cory, David, Jordan, Steve, Katie, Justin, and Daniel, and a proud great-grandfather to William, Hailey, Harper-Mae, and Carter-Rose.
  • He will also be lovingly remembered by his step-children Stirling, Lorna, Mark, and April, step-grandchildren Shawn, Matthew, Kate, Emily, Joshua, and step-great-grandson Nathan, as well as many dear extended family and friends who will forever cherish his presence and love.
  • He is now reunited with those who predeceased him, including his parents, Walter Harold and Gertrude Mae Mullen; his wife, Rosemary Mullen; his son, Bruce Mullen Jr., and son-in-law, Timothy Howse.

  • Dave served the O.P.P. for 30 years in Bradford and Brantford detachments. After his retirement Dave joined his brother Andy and wife Mary at Hoover's Marina and Wharfside Restaurant. This establishment was well known in the Nanticoke area. It was established in 1905 by his grandfather as a fishery until 1965 when his father Alton and mother Marjorie opened the Wharfside Restaurant. His father passed away that year and his mother Marjorie continued Hoover's Marina and Wharfside Restaurant. It was a family run business until 2017 when it was sold.

  • Survived by his loving wife Mary (nee Panko), daughter Traci Kelly (Neil), grandchildren Ethan and Ava. He will be sadly missed by brother-in-law Peter Panko (Mary), sister-in-law Anne Gregorinski (late Peter), and many nieces, nephews and close friends. Predeceased by his parents Alton Hoover and Marjorie Peace and brother Andrew.

  • Ken was a proud 32 year veteran of the OPP. Ken served 18 years with the Sebringville Detachment starting in 1955, followed by 14 years at Goderich Detachment. In his retirement, he was a passionate farmer and loved all animals.

Family & loved ones

  • Dearly loved husband for 47 years of Marlene (nee Middaugh). Dearly cherished father of David (Shirley), Tami (Geoff), Cheryl, Bill, Mardell (Mike), Laurie (Al), Leanne (Darryl), Ann-Marie (Sean) and Rod (Cari-Lin). Lovingly remembered by his 21 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren whom he adored. Also missed by his nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, John and Gladys Armstrong, his sister Doreen and her husband Glen Carter, and his sons-in-law Rick Taylor and Robin Jackson.
