Norma passed peacefully at Queensway Carleton Hospital after a brief illness, and we are confident she is already reunited with her beloved Bert.

She will be missed every day by her daughter, Traci, and son, Ken (Kim). She was devoted to her grandchildren Marin and Rowan Hulford and Maxwell McIntyre and was a beloved sister, sister-in-law, and aunt.

Norma took great pride in her role as a Registered Nurse. While retired for many years, she maintained a tight bond with the friends she made during that career. She treasured those relationships and they provided a strong and supportive network, particularly during the last several years.

In keeping with her “don’t make a fuss” spirit, Norma elected to skip the traditions of visitations and a formal funeral. To honour Norma, thank a nurse and hug your loved ones. We are grateful to the nurses at the Civic and the Queensway Carleton for their compassionate care.

I regret to inform you of the passing of Chapter 18 Life Member Fred Longthorne who passed away peacefully at Stevenson Memorial Hospital at the age of 85 on July 29th, 2026.  Fred started his policing career at the age of 21 in Chatham on June 4th, 1962.  On January 21st, 1963 he was transferred to Bradford Detachment where he spent the rest of his 31 year career.

Peacefully at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Thursday, July 23rd, 2026, Calvin Rowmayne “Rowe” Croskill formerly of Wingham passed away at the age of 95. Devoted husband of the late Dorothy (Dunlop) Croskill who predeceased him in 1996. Loving father of Jeff & Lynda Croskill of Listowel and the late Jo-Ann Thompson (2017) and father-in-law of Dave Thompson of Bluevale. Grandfather of David Croskill, Julie Croskill & Mike Brohman, Lori Croskill & Joe Giles, Rob Anderson, Kyle Anderson and Janelle Anderson and great-grandfather of Callum, Aden, Alivia, Tyson and Kylie. Survived by sister Debbie Crosskill and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Grace & Bob Tipping and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Clifford & Alma (Howson) Crosskill, brothers Harvey Wallace and Gary Calvert, sister and brother-in-law Audrey & Bernard Charters, sister-in-law and brother-in law Jane & Ralph Lipsett and granddaughter-in-law Lisa Anderson. Rowe was born in Heathcote, and married Dorothy in 1955. Rowe joined the Ontario Provincial Police in 1957 and served in Sudbury, Noelville, Guelph, Wingham, Glencoe and Mount Forest. After his retirement they moved back to Wingham and enjoyed several winters in the sunny south. Rowe loved to garden, travel and watch baseball, hockey and curling. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as his nieces and nephews. He moved into the Sugarbush community in Listowel in 2020 and as usual made many new friends. A graveside service will be held at the Wingham Cemetery on Wednesday August 5th, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jeff Hawkins officiating. A Celebration of Rowe’s life will be held at the Listowel Kin Station on Wednesday, August 5th, 2026 from 1:30 – 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Wingham & District Hospital Foundation or the Listowel Memorial Hospital Foundation

Ron joined the OPP on February 3, 1964  as a Cadet and was Posted to Peterborough Detachment.  On October 17, 1964 Ron became a regular member member at Peterborough Detachment. On November 15, 1970, Ron transferred to Newcastle Detachment.   Ron retired from the OPP on July 31, 1994 and 30 1/2 years.  Ron was  Life Member of the Peterborough Chapter of the OPP Veterans’ Association.

A life member of 16 Chapter Thunder Bay and at one time was very active in the Chapter.

Bonnie passed away at the Southbridge Lakehead Long Term Care Home in Thunder Bay. 

Bonnie began her career with the OPP as a Clerk Steno at Schreiber Detachment and later transferred to Emo Detachment. Eventually she moved to Thunder Bay where she worked as  a Clerk Steno at #16 District Headquarters until her retirement..

After retirement she worked at the Thunder Bay District Crown Attorneys Office.

Zofia passed away suddenly as a result of an accident at her home on Monday June 29, 2026, the age of 69. Zofia, beloved wife of the late Charlie Lowe (2024). She will be dearly missed by her “Bestie” of many years, Sandy Poredos. Zofia’s passing is a loss for her neighbours and friends the Morrison family, Brayden, Reg, Sherri, Ashley and Rachel and her Bernise Mountain dog Skye, who was a faithful companion.

Zofia was a kind and compassionate woman. She cared deeply for her close friends and those who entered her life. She enjoyed her property, gardening and acrylic and watercolour painting. Zofia will be truly missed. 

Bill became a member of the Ontario Provincial Police on April 17, 1967, with a posting to Mattawa Detachment.

On August 3, 1970, Bill was transferred to Ottawa Detachment.  A transfer to Burk’s Falls Detachment followed on July 7, 1975.

On June 25, 1990, Bill was transferred to North Bay Detachment.

On July 17, 1995, Bill was transferred to the North East Region Crime Unit.

Detective Constable Bethell retired from the OPP on September 30, 1996.

Bill was a Life Member of the North Bay Chapter of the OPP Veterans’ Association.

Bill was 80 and had been retired for close to 30 years when he passed away.

Bill is survived by his spouse Patsy and stepchildren Claudine and Aaron.
